Kira Kira Killer Zine
"Content warning: This 'zine is aimed for 13+ age groups. The 'zine has violent content and cursing/swearing in some of the comics.
Kira Kira Killer is a 'dark magical girl' fanzine.
A sub-genre of 'magical girl', typically a much more lighthearted, 'solve-everything-with-healing-magic' type, this 'zine explores what it means to be turned 'dark'. In this case it means facing breaks in a magical girls psyche, truly facing death head on, and realizing not everyone is meant to be a magical girl.
In Kira Kira Killer you'll find over 90 pages of illustrations and moving comics by 17 artists. Each of these artists were heavily influenced by the magical girl genre in some way and wish to share the magic with you in this 'zine.
While it is darker than what was on TV at the time, as they grew up so did the genre. In ways that were completely unexpected.
